The Secret to Making Summer Count
If you live in Canada, you wait for approximately 9 months of the year for the heat, Vitamin D and fun activities that summer brings - along with a shedding of layers of clothes. I love summer in Toronto! There are so many great activities - two of them are featured in our latest Exclusive newsletter (make sure you sign up). It’s easy to get swept up on patio drinks, backyard BBQ’s, weekend getaways up north, festivals, concerts or just doing absolutely nothing but basking in the good weather. However, if you are an entrepreneur, this is the time to get ahead. In other words, be that person who gets up when others are still sleeping and hustle!
I’m not suggesting that you lock yourself in your office or business and not enjoy life. That’s a recipe for disaster and burnout. You always need to have balance with whatever you do. What I am saying is take advantage of this time to get organized, reset (as I talked about in last month’s blog), and recognize that a lot of people/businesses slow down in the summer and that’s a good time for you to catch up.
I’m spending this time meeting with our speakers and putting together a strategy for the fall and the winter months into 2026. We’re checking contacts - there has been a lot of movement with uncertainty in many industries - and making sure roles haven’t changed. We’re getting the outreach ready for September when everyone returns to work in beast mode, ready to end the year with a bang.
I like this time of year. The better weather keeps you motivated, later sunsets means you don’t feel like you have missed out on the whole day after working until 6 or 7 in the evening. Or you wake to the sun shining and it gets you out of bed and ready to take on the world. Don’t doubt the power of serotonin!
So far, we’ve redone our website, reformulated our social media plan, met with 15 of our speakers and mapped out strategy, rebooted our Find An Expert outreach to newsrooms, met with potential Public Relations clients for the fall and winter and re-organized workflow since the departure of one of our team members. I’m probably forgetting a few other things, but that okay. It’s important to give yourself grace afterall, it’s summer - relax!
