Her community work includes former Vice-President of the Board of Dr. Roz's Healing Place, Vice-President of the Foundation Board of Women in Film and Television-Toronto, Member of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, Past Board Member of Tropicana Community Services, Past President of the Canadian Association of Black Journalists, and former member of the Sheridan College Advisory Board for Journalism.

FKB Media Solutions has taken the public relations lead in numerous campaigns and charitable fundraisers that have exceeded monetary goals.

Fennella is the recipient of the Rogers Communicator of the Year award for 2023. Fennella was recognized for demonstrating leadership and communications excellence through her ongoing work boosting the voices of Black professionals in the media.

In 2020 , Fennella was a recipient of the 100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women Award.

She has served as a juror for the Canadian Screen Awards, The Junos and the New York Film Festivals International TV Awards. Fennella taught Media Literacy for six years at Centennial College and has mentored numerous journalism students.
