TransCrypts is Reversing the Game by Supporting Canada’s Brain Gain
As a media consultant, there’s nothing more satisfying than launching a major success story onto the world stage. We spend months preparing, checking contacts, and mapping out the perfect strategy. When you're ready to hit beast mode you need a story that can’t be ignored. I’ve been in this industry for over 30 years, and I know that securing media coverage for clients requires precision and passion. Sometimes, the sheer magnitude of a company's achievement, combined with its profound impact on a global crisis, makes the job feel effortless. And that’s exactly what happened when I was brought on board as the Canadian Publicist for TransCrypts. I knew right away that we had a story of innovation that deserved to be the headline.
The TransCrypts story is a global game-changer. The tech company is transforming the digital identity and credential verification space using blockchain technology, putting control back into people's hands. They are tackling one of the most pressing challenges of our time: the erosion of online trust and the growing threat of AI fraud and deepfakes. With identity fraud losses reaching billions, this solution couldn’t be more critical.
The market agrees! TransCrypts has closed a monumental $15M USD (approximately $20M CDN) seed funding round led by Pantera Capital, with major participation from Lightspeed Faction, and existing investor Mark Cuban, who said, "Trust online is under attack with AI fraud and deepfakes. TransCrypts puts control back in people's hands, making verification faster, smarter and more secure." In just 24 months, the company has already grown 15-fold and now serves over 4 million users and 450 enterprise customers, including Fortune 500 and Fortune 100 companies. They’ve even expanded beyond employment records to begin securing health and educational records, achieving HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) certification.
But this is not just a Silicon Valley success story; this is a major Canadian tech story. Co-founder Ali Zaheer is a Canadian and a University of Toronto graduate. And the entire concept for TransCrypts was actually developed right here at the University of Toronto Scarborough's incubator program, The Hub (which is now known as the Sam Ibrahim Centre).
And now, they are doubling down on their Canadian roots! With this new funding, TransCrypts is opening a new co-headquarters in downtown Toronto. Their plan? To more than double their team in the next year, with a significant focus on hiring Canadian employees right here in Toronto. Job creation, innovation, and fighting fraud - this company has all the success ingredients!
Securing media coverage for a story of this magnitude is both a challenge and a joy. We pitched this as the compelling story of Canadian-linked innovation tackling a global crisis. And the hustle paid off! The team at FKB Media was thrilled to secure key coverage for TransCrypts, making sure this incredible news hit the right financial audiences. This meant getting co-founder and CEO Zain Zaidi on air to discuss the future of digital identity verification and why Toronto is central to their global expansion.
If you were watching the financial news as the trading day came to an end, you may have seen him on BNN Bloomberg, which provides in-depth market and corporate news coverage through shows like The Close hosted by Merella Fernandez.
These are the kinds of stories that truly inspire and motivate me. FKB Media is committed to shining a spotlight on powerful stories like TransCrypts because when you have a groundbreaking solution backed by top investors and Canadian talent, that’s a story that simply cannot be kept quiet.
